Born in Germany, Dr. Florian von Raison obtained Medical School and later Doctorate of Medical Science Degree at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany. After his training as neurologist in France and Germany he held an academic position in France as associate professor (“Chef de Clinique”) in neurology in Paris In 2002 he joined pharmaceutical industry at Pfizer in Paris, France in medical affairs neurology, being involved as clinician in national as European clinical studies post registration in Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, neuropathic pain and migraine. In 2007 he joined for 5 years Merck Serono’s worldwide clinical development of neurodegenerative diseases in Geneva, Switzerland. He was the medical responsible for the development and registration of CNS in Parkinson’s disease and in depression. Recently he joined Novartis’s Pharma global development in Basel where he leads as Global Program Head multidisciplinary development program teams in neuroscience for diseases like Parkinson’s disease and Fragile X. Dr Florian von Raison is as well chairman of the Geriatrics Medicine Working Party of the European Forum of Good Clinical Practice (EFGCP) based in Brussels. This multi stakeholder forum involves European members from academia, regulatory bodies, and pharmaceutical industry and patients groups in order to improve the availability of clinical data of older people in medical research.
